Inspired by the work of George Nakashima, this coffee table emphasizes a beautiful slab of claro walnut as its top. The crack at the table’s edge is mended by the insertion of three ebony dovetail keys. The two side edges have been left with their natural features, replicating Nakashima’s celebration of the life of the tree and its natural form.
An angular base uplifts the slab and accentuates the two natural edges. The base design is similar in style to several of Nakshima’s, including the base of his Minguren II coffee table and the first peace altar. Finished with tung oil.
